Deaf Awareness Day 2019

For the 5th Annual Deaf Awareness Day, we celebrated the day with some new and old traditions! Thank you to over 200 community members who braved the rain and cooler temperatures to watch Guilford County Deaf Education students sign the National Anthem, to see the first pitch by Dr. Sharon Contreras, meet the signing Frog Princess, to chat with friends, to spend Babe’s Bucks, and to enjoy live fireworks!

The CSDHH team values the collaboration of our community partners: Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Greensboro Regional Center and Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing of Davidson County for their planning efforts to make this event accessible and community centered. Additionally, we appreciate all of the UNC Greensboro students who volunteered their time to help ensure that all attendees had a safe and fun experience!

CSDHH would also like to recognize Reserving Royalty, located in High Point, and Sorenson Communications for making meaningful donations towards Deaf Awareness Day! Thank you for your support towards this annual community event!

See you next year!

NC Folk Festival

2018 was a fantastic kick of the North Carolina Folk Festival! In partnership with the City of Greensboro, CSDHH provided American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to 13 total performances over the 3 day festival. We value communication and equal access for all NC Folk Festival attendees! Be seeing you next September!

CSDHH is grateful to Latoya Jordan for dedicating her personal time and energy towards this same goal of equal access! We appreciate you serving as the liaison between event planners and CSDHH to make this event a positive experience for all! Thank you for volunteering your talents and for coordinating this event as an experiential learning opportunity for ten interpreter preparation students! Cheers!

Thank you to all UNC Greensboro interpreter preparation students, CSDHH staff, and professional interpreters for your collaboration as well! We could not have made it possible without you and your dedication to the community!

Friends & Families with Guests: Greensboro Fire Department

The Greensboro Fire Department welcomed a few extra helping hands at CSDHH's Friends & Families Night! It's not everyday that we get to interact with firefighters and to talk about fire safety with a Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened and/or Deaf Blind family focus.

We would like to extend a BIG thank you to the Fire Department team for their time and for their fire safety presentation!

Get Connected 2017

Together with many local businesses and agencies we helped connect over 50 immigrants and refugees in Guilford County to resources, services and representatives committed to enriching the lives of people with hearing loss! Thank you to all the partner agencies, vendors, committees, community volunteers and student interns who made this outreach project a success!

A special thanks goes to the members of the Regional InterAgency Team, RIT, for their coordination efforts!
