What We Do

CSDHH is proud of our service history providing sign language interpreting and real-time captioning services to ensure that folks are not left out of the conversation.

In addition to our daily scheduling of communication access services, we also established the Evans-Melton Communication Access Fund to make sure that Deaf individuals have communication access in situations not covered by the ADA or other laws, such as at weddings and funerals - at no cost.

Our Signing Social events (including our Signing Dinner and Sip & Sign events each month) provide a safe, welcoming environment for folks to gather, meet new and old friends, and establish bonds in the community - all in ASL!

We provide sign language classes in-person and online to anyone interested in learning. Students who take our classes have a variety of motivations for wanting to learn sign language

  • they may want to promote more inclusion in their public role

  • they may have a family member with hearing loss

  • they are themselves losing their hearing

  • or simply because they are interested in a new culture and vibrant community.

We provide advocacy services and other individual support for members of our community to ensure they’re able to access all the resources and services they need.

Our other annual events, such as our annual Community Appreciation Party and Deaf Awareness Day with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, draw people from across the state for great fun.
