Piedmont Shakespeare Company is excited to produce Much Ado About Nothing!
Directed with a contemporary lens while honoring Shakespeare’s text, Much Ado About Nothing is a witty, sharp, and emotionally rich romantic comedy set in the aftermath of war, as soldiers return home and re-enter a world of love, connection, and uncertainty. While the structure may feel familiar, its exploration of love is anything but simple. As director Carl Forsman notes, “Romance may start with the eyes, but it lives in the head.” This production explores how love is shaped by thought before it is felt—and what happens when the two collide.
This Much Ado About Nothing is full of passion, scheming, romantic entanglements, and a few messy misunderstandings. Characters flirt, spar, and occasionally get caught up in big feelings and bold choices. It’s a lively, fast-moving comedy best for anyone twelve and older who’s ready to track the twists, turns, and heart behind the humor.
Approximate Run Time: 2.5 hours
The performance on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, will include American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters.
