Interpreting Workshop - Aspects of Deaf Culture that could have an impact on your ASL interpretations - Hosted by NCRID

  • UNCG School of Ed. Bldg. Room 224 1300 Spring Garden Street Greensboro, NC, 27412 United States (map)

Check out this incredible workshop hosted by the NCRID Mid-State and Foothills Regions!

Presented by Frank Griffin and Sam Parker, this workshop will help show how knowledge of Deaf culture can impact your interpreting. Deaf culture has been passed down for centuries from one deaf person to another in an “oral tradition.” This oral tradition of sharing culture and language is the format and focus of this workshop. This ASL-only workshop explores how Deaf culture shapes interpretation and interaction within the Deaf community. Participants will analyze ASL stories to identify cultural nuances, enhancing both cultural competence and receptive ASL skills.
