NCSD - Project STEM

  • North Carolina School for the Deaf 517 West Fleming Drive Morganton, NC, 28655 United States (map)

NC School for the Deaf is a K-12 accredited day and residential school, serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in North Carolina.

NCSD focuses on STEM content throughout the curriculum. NCSD is the only Deaf school in the nation that offers Project Lead the Way courses in Kindergarten through 12th grade. This year, our Middle School Robotics Team won the VEX State Championship and our high school team won the Judges Award, among other accolades for both teams.

STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Campers become scientists, computer programmers, engineers and investigators through hands-on, interactive classes. Project STEM is a great place to meet friends who also enjoy innovation and creativity, as well as enjoy the fun of a traditional summer camp. In addition to awesome classes, campers will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in the afternoons, like field trips, swimming, and crafts.

Registration is FREE for students with a documented hearing loss. Also welcome are school age children of Deaf adults, Interpreters, or Teachers of the Deaf and siblings of Deaf students. NCSD’s goal is to strengthen language and communication.
